Meet the Founder & Teachers

      Cynthia Johannes-Beecher is the owner and founding teacher of Your Yoga.        Cindy was born and raised in Erie, Pa.   She received her undergraduate degree in Pharmacy from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and her Masters degree in Health Care Administration from Central Michigan University.  Cindy relocated to York, Pa. in 1986 and continued a career in healthcare until her retirement in 2020.  Cynthia is also a certified aromatherapist and provides clients with aromatherapy care plans to support physical and emotional   well-being.  
Cindy took her first yoga class at age 6 with her mom, in front of the TV. She continued to explore and practice yoga throughout her life and began   private teaching after her retirement. Cindy followed her passion for yoga and became a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School.  Cindy received her certifications from My Vinyasa Practice, the teacher training school developed and led by Michelle Young,  located in Austin, Texas.  Cindy is currently an RYT 500, and a Yoga Alliance Certified Education Provider (YACEP).
 Cindy's passion for sharing the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual benefits of yoga with others inspired her vision for Your Yoga.  She teaches Hatha Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Guided Mindfulness Meditation, Supportive Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and other classes offered at Your Yoga and also offers private yoga sessions and consultations for yoga and aromatherapy.

Stephanie Cucina

   I am first and foremost a yoga student. I started my practice in late 2013 when I was seeking a physical and spiritual connection that I felt was lacking in my life. The passion for my practice continued for over two and a half years when I decided to take teacher training in early 2016. I have been teaching now for over 5 years at least twice a week at various venues. I recently decided to teach yoga full time and leave my finance career behind because I could no longer deny the voice to pursue my passion for the practice. The pandemic not only opened up space in my life to begin taking on private clients, it also made me realize that I could make my dreams begin to come true with doing what I love full time and be able to have a flexible schedule to be there for my daughter as well as have a healthier work/life balance to better care for my own mental health. I have a 200hr RYT certification in power vinyasa yoga, 40hr RYT aerial yoga certification, 20 hours of training in trauma informed restorative yoga, 3 hours of pre-natal yoga training, 6 hours of intuitive assisting training and I’ve assisted 200hr teacher training at House of Yoga in 2020. I am FirstAid/CPR certified until Oct 2022 and I have all of my clearances including fingerprinting to work with children. I also study sound therapy, learning how to play singing bowls, use my voice and other musical instruments to aid in helping my clients to help bring balance to their nervous systems. I have completed my certification in this area.  I want to help my clients/students help themselves create a deeper, more authentic connection to their true self and their physical being. I do this by being a safe, non-judgemental space holder, listening and helping them to tune in to their body, mind and heart.

Nicki Herdson

Since 2012, I have regularly practiced yoga at a variety of studios in the York area.  I studied the yoga teachings of Jimmy Barkan in 2017 and began to serve as a substitute teacher at Yoga for Life.  In March of 2022, I completed my YTT 200 certification and focused on the physical and spiritual nature of yoga teaching. I look forward to sharing the gift of Yoga with students.  In addition to teaching yoga, I am a lecturer in Rhetorical Communication at York College of Pennsylvania.


Morgan Staub


My yoga journey began in middle school–mostly because I wanted to impress people with being able to stand on my head–but as I got older my practice deepened. Beyond the poses I learned how to feel grounded and at peace in my body and mind. I developed a passion that I knew I wanted to share with others. I started teaching yoga in college where I was able to complete my 200 hour teacher training with my teacher and mentor there and it was the highlight of my college experience. Now I’m in school again to become a physical therapy assistant and I love learning more about the human body and making that knowledge accessible and fun for my yoga students. I hope that everyone who comes to one of my classes walks out feeling good and having learned something new.

Tina Keffer

Tina is a certified yoga teacher with over 400 hours of teacher training in Hot Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Prenatal Yoga and Yoga for Anxiety and Depression. Tina began practicing yoga in 1998 while working full time and attending college. She was interested in practicing yoga as a stress reduction tool. She immediately noticed a difference in her body, her breath, and her spirit. When yoga helped her to explore and accept the unexpected passing of her father, she decided to share the gift of yoga with others and began her first 200 -hour yoga teacher training in Hot Yoga at Charm City Yoga in Baltimore, MD. In 2011 she completed a second 200- hour teacher training with Yogaworks in Los Angeles, CA. Tina’s approach gives careful attention to postural alignment and brings awareness to the union between mind, body, and breath. She teaches that the mind follows the breath.

Milly Jo Merkert

My first Yoga class was in 1999. Suggested by my Gastrologist, and accompanied by my mom, I sat in the back so I could leave easily. While in a posture, the instructor urged us to "sink deeper" and "reach further". Then, she said the phrase that had me forever hooked....."or don't". Those 2 words gave me freedom. Freedom on my little rectangle. I began filling in as a substitute instructor in 2003, and in 2005, I received my first certification. Yoga has meant so many things to me over the years. Mostly I would say it has been my pathway to healing. A very slow, winding, and long pathway. It took me months to be able to "feel my breath" like I had been instructed. I didn't know what she was talking about in the beginning. I eventually did. I returned to my body, I fell in love with it, and I learned to let go..........of so very much, though this lesson is ongoing. Even though my practice continues to grow and change, what hasn't, is my love for sharing this pathway and learning from the people practicing along with me on their own little rectangles of freedom.

Amey Lee Himes

I am excited to be part of the team at Your Yoga studio.  In May of 2021 I pushed away from my 15 year Grooming career when I came across the ancient art of Tai Chi Gung. I immediately understood what the system could do fort me, my mind, my body and my spirituality. As a student of nearly 3 years, and over 750 hours of training, I have been led to become a teacher. I didn’t know right away, that I would be a teacher. It was during meditation and prayer, & a 3 column exercise I was led down another path to share. I will always be a student, continuing my practice working to better myself, so I can help as many as possible reduce their stress, overcome challenges, and unlock their highest potential. August 2023, I was approved to start teaching. I am a student & continuing teacher in training at the Circle of Chi organization. Studying under Master lama Rasaji Shakti, 55 years practice and Master David Paul ,36 years with Master Lama Rasaji who have a combined practice of nearly 90 years studying this ancient art. I have over 40 hours a month training, live zoom, with them both and every 60 days I travel out of town for one on one training for the weekend . It is such an honor, and I am so excited to be one of a little more than 60 + teachers in the United States and now in 7 different countries. Please join me in this experience of this gentle, low practice that can transform your mind, body, and spirit.
 I’m thrilled to pass on its proving longevity and wellness benefits dating back over 3300 years in an unbroken lineage. This practice integrates gentle flowing movements, deep breathing, and mental focus to generate and revitalize energy.  I’m eager to guide newcomers and support them in embracing its joys.
